Clubforce Message

Dear FriendEngland and Wales Cricket Board/Natwest Groundforce Weekend 2008With the improvement in the weather and the onset of spring, it’s time again to think about dusting off the clubhouse in preparation for the new season. With a son in the junior team and a newcomer to the committee, I’ve taken on the task of trying to smarten up the old place, which does look a bit sad at the moment. The annual Groundforce weekend is a national event and we’re hoping to mobilize young and old over the 4th, 5th and 6th April with the aim of completing the following much needed refurbishments: Clearing out, recarpeting and repainting the clubhouse. Replacing the dilapidated furniture. Fencing repairs and treatment Provision and concreting in of new spectator benches. Now, the ambition of the committee is one thing, however making it happen will obviously depend on how well we can gather the necessary resources and then pull together to get it done. As I’m essentially starting with a blank sheet, I first need to gauge is what is really possible. To that end I’m asking whether you’d like to get involved and if so, get you to pledge some help - whether it be time, materials or anything else for that matter. I will then try and schedule a weekend of fun! The more material we can secure through donation or at reduced/cost price, the further our limited funds will go. As such, it would be great if anyone can source materials such as paints and brushes, sand and cement, or even carpeting and furniture for that matter! Similarly for services, we need a carpet layer, skip hire and catering to sustain the huge workforce! Now, I’m sure you don’t need me to remind you that the club is what we make it, but it would be right and proper for us to support the small number of hardworking members/coaches who are committed to the development of club at both junior and senior levels alike.Furthermore, I enclose an open letter introducing the club to any prospective commercial sponsor. If this is of interest to you please get in touch, otherwise please free to pass it on to anyone you think may be appropriate.I do look forward to hearing from you, time is short so the sooner the better. Email is probably best andy@mcp7.freeserve.co.uk , but for a chat, please call me on 07976 838246. Here’s to a great start to the season!Best Wishes Andy McParland
