Junior CricketThe club have a thriving junior section with players from Under 7 to Under 17. A pathway between junior and senior cricket exists with coaching being provided all year round and a programme of competitive and friendly fixtures being played. The club was granted ECB Focus Club status by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in recognition of the club's record in developing young players over the years. This can be seen in both of the senior league sides in 2007 with players such as Gareth Williamson (1st XI Captain), Ben Wilson, Peter Exley and Ian Willcocks in the 1st XI and Gavin Noon, Chris Bailey in the 2nd XI all examples of home grown players. This tradition has continued with current junior players Jack Williamson, Neil Patel, Tom Peney, Tim Wilson and Ryan Dawson alll being selcted for league cricket in 2007. Central to the clubs plans to develop young players is the Sunday XI which will again feature promintely in 2008. The club works to the ECB Safe Hands Policy and has been awarded ECB Clubmark satus. This award is a benchmark of best practice for organising sport for young people. All coaches are CRB checked by the ECB , have taken coaching awards (ECB Level 1,2 or 3), have attended a Appointed Person First Aid Course and also a Child Welfare Workshop. All coaches also are encouraged to join the ECB Coaching Association. This body works to and shares best practice in cricket coaching.
