U11MR0905U11 Match Report BTCC MATCH REPORT V SILEBY TOWN U11 Sileby Town CC U11s 258 Barrow Town CC U11s 257In a contrast to the first U11s hardball match, the first Incrediball match of the season was on a hot and sunny evening at Sileby Town. Captain for the evening, Sam Nightingale won the toss and elected for his side to bat. The opening pair, Tom Moores and Kunal Lodhia scored well against a good pair of Sileby bowlers, scoring 12 runs, and losing a wicket to an excellent catch. Next came George Griffiths and Aaron Watts. This pair scored well against against the Sileby attack, and added 20 runs without loss of a wicket, and taking the score to 237. The third pair, Sam Nightingale and Ben Pole came up against some excellent bowling in their first over, losing two wickets. This did not put them out of their stride and the scored 17 more runs in their remaining overs. The last pair, Alex Carruthers and Billy Wright scored well, adding a further 21 runs including a couple of boundaries from Billy. The Barrow innings closed on 257.Next came the turn of Sileby Town. Barrow opened the bowling with Alex and Kunal. Alex’s first over gave Barrow an excellent start with a wicket. Kunal and Alex then continued to keep the pressure on Sileby, holding them to 210 off their first four overs. The second Sileby pair came out to face Sam and George’s bowling. Sam’s first over saw him take two wickets, one clean bowled and one from a catch. Like the opening bowlers, Sam and George kept the pressure on Sileby, allowing them only 221 off their overs. Next it was the turn of Ben and Billy’s overs. The third Sileby pair scored only two off the bat, but Billy struggled to show the same control as last week with his first over of leg spin but regained that control in his second over, again, turning the ball a long way and causing the Sileby batsmen some problems. Ben’s overs proved equally difficult for the Sileby players leaving the last pair to score 18 to win. Aaron put huge pressure on the last Sileby pair with a maiden over. The skipper asked Alex to bowl the next over and Sileby managed 6 runs off his final over. Up came Aaron for his last over, and Sileby, desperate to score runs lost a wicket, run out, to some excellent Barrow fielding. The last over was bowled by Kunal who found it hard to control the lightweight Incrediball and with the match tied with one ball to go, Sileby scored the winning run off the last ball. An excellent night for cricket saw an excellent match between the Sileby and Barrow U11s teams. 4 This website was created using MAGIX Website Maker.
