Barrow U9's played their first match of the season away at Lymm on Tuesday 10th May and despite not quite claiming victory, played well, learnt lots and had huge amount of fun. Lymm won the toss and chose to bat. Barrow bowled and fielded well and restricted Lymm to 272 off 16 overs. The Barrow team, of eight players and two travelling reserves, had seven players making their U9 debuts. Batting second proved a challenge for the young and inexperienced Barrow squad and despite scoring as many runs as Lymm sadly lost too many wickets and ended up on 237. Many lessons were learnt during the game, particularly on the importance of :- bowling straight; backing up in the field; running well between the wickets when batting and not to give away easy wickets.

Onwards and upwards to training on Friday and then we will start the preparation for the next game against Toft U9's at home on Friday May 20th.

Well done to all the children on an excellent performance, backed up by a great team spirit and first class behaviour. Thanks to all the parents who made the journey to Lymm and provided great vocal support.
