Following a defeat in the first game away to Aston, the ladies came back fighting and secured a win at The Croft against Christleton on Sunday well supported by a couple of Barrownesses looking to make their debut soon.

The Barrownesses, captained by Becky Sutton-Thompson, lost the toss and were put in to bat first. Caroline Cooper and Betty Warrington (making her debut) stepped up and got the team off to a good start followed by Beth Richardson and Denise Shaw. The runs kept coming with only 3 wickets being lost. Amanda Cook and Miriam Howarth finished the innings off bringing the score to 305-3.

Focus moved to bowling and defending the score. The team had worked hard at training on their bowling and it clearly showed. Christleton’s second batting pair put up a fight hitting 6 fours but the hard work was undone with 3 stunning catches from the Barrownesses (including 2 catches in two balls off her own bowling by Amanda). Having never bowled in a game before, Yvonne Worthington stepped up and produced a tidy display of bowling too. The fielders managed to restrict Christleton’s batters in the second half of the innings with Becky saving a boundary with her foot mid-air!
